Formerly St Ann’s Special School

St Ann’s Special School project involved a large refurbishment of the existing 2 storey building in addition to the construction of three specialised buildings, including Gymnasium, resource centre, art and learning areas, training facilities and administration offices.

Extensive landscaping, uniquely customised play areas, underground water storage tanks and permeable surface layer carpark were also part of the construction.

As with all Pascale Construction projects, we applied our high standards of compliance and quality, however special considerations were additionally adopted to ensure the safety of sixty-three special needs students, and school staff.

Programming the stages of the project was a key management strategy for this project, as extensive underground works had to be completed without impacting the continuation of the superstructure construction.

An innovative remote-controlled duress system which interfaced with the remote-controlled fire alarm system and security system was successfully installed. The security access door had to be connected with other systems enabling a program to release or lock the doors and gates, as the situation requires.

The project was successfully completed within the Client’s timeframe, and to great satisfaction.

At the grand opening ceremony upon completion the school was renamed to Our Lady of La Vang School.
