Site Area

Formerly known as The Checkside Tavern

This project involved the transformation of the Checkside Tavern into the Mosaic Hotel.

The main feature of the Mosaic Hotel is the suspended alfresco deck which has four hydraulic windows which can open to 180 degrees. The majority of the external elevations feature powdercoated aluminium fins.

Internally, the hotel features spotted gum joinery including feature ceilings, bar tops and window trims, as well as stone bench tops for gaming machines and a new bar and toilets for patrons finishes the new gaming room.

Upholstered booth seating lines the dining room with a combination of carpet and tiled floors and suspended terracotta light fittings.

Demolition of the existing bar, dining room and gaming area allowed for the construction of two new outdoor decks transitioning to the gaming room and TAB area, which continues the theme of spotted gum with screening and extended canopies.

The building was originally part of “Football Park” which earlier had been demolished, leaving many unknown issues that had to be resolved as the project progressed. Some construction challenges included existing structure and services being markedly different from the documented building.

The building was originally part of “Football Park” which earlier had been demolished, leaving many unknown issues that had to be resolved as the project progressed. Some construction challenges included existing structure and services being markedly different from the documented building.

All issues were overcome using a collaborative approach with the engineering team and Pascale innovation coming up with practical and economical solutions with minimal delays.

Pascale Construction remained responsive to the client requests and late variations were accommodated into the original programme despite changes of scope to many key trades. Again cooperative teamwork between Pascale and our delivery partners was the key factor in coordinating and incorporating these changes, which resulted in an on-budget project completion, and delivered one week earlier than scheduled – much to the delight of the client.
