Flinders Ports Passenger Terminal Upgrade

Commercial, South Australia

Process

The upgrade to the Flinders Ports Passenger Terminal was awarded to Pascale Construction after a competitive bid process. The project site is within a Marine Services area which maintained full operations throughout the project, and posed significant logistical and WHS considerations which needed to be managed and controlled in unison with our clients requirements.

The works involved the refurbishment of the passenger terminal facility, and the installation of new vertical transport systems. This included the removal and upgrade to existing passenger escalators and lifts, and a new custom built external stair was also provided to replace ageing concrete staircase. Additionally, a new diesel generator room was also constructed to service the building, and the foyer upgrade featured new floors, walls ceilings and services.

Resolution

The site was located within a marine clearance area so key Pascale Construction and subcontractor personnel were required to have marine clearances and coordinate all access for our trade contractors to within the secure site.

Strict screening of all workers and visitors was required, including maintaining clear delineation between construction work zones and client operational areas. This allowed the Marine Services team to continue to operate shipping logistics with minimal impact on operations.

This project was successfully completed in time for the cruise ship season commencement due to the collaborative efforts of our Client, Architect, Subcontractors and Pascale team.
