Process

Extensive propping of the existing party walls was required after demolition of first floor until the new structural steel was installed. All equipment and machinery required for demolition was craned onto to the first floor via the rear lane way.

Access to site was very limited. All materials required on the first floor was craned onto the first floor via the rear lane way. Whenever this was required, council permits were required, and all neighbours were notified 48 hours prior to works being undertaken. Careful coordination, planning and regular and informed communication with the neighbouring properties by the site manager was exercised for these activities.

Additional asbestos was discovered during demolition of the first floor. In order to remove the asbestos successfully, a sealed chamber was constructed around the affected areas
