Adelaide Film and Screen Centre

Masonry, South Australia

Process

Pascale Construction Pty Ltd was engaged by the head contractor on a lump sum agreement to carry out all the bricklaying, block laying and stone masonry for the new Adelaide Film And Screen Centre.

The build consisted of a new 2 storey building plus a roof top plant room constructed in and around the grounds of the existing Glenside Hospital. Also included was a complete refurbishment of the existing 1800c Administration Building.

The new building is predominantly made up of 2 wings, the North wing envelopes 2 sound stages, while the South wing contains mixing, screening and editing rooms.

Plant rooms and offices are situated on the upper levels. The masonry aspect of the project consisted of face block work to the soundstages to a height of 2200mm all of which were finally finished with a clear coating which would eventually highlight the quality of the walling.

Standard and fire rated block work was used through out the rest of the building.

Also included were external aesthetic facades consisting of feature stack bonded brickwork walls and facings to various areas around the project.
